听力原文:W: Hi, Larry, are you waiting to see Professor Gilmore, too?

M: Yah, since I got one of the five highest grades in her class, she asked me if I'd be interested in working as her assistant next semester, I'm here now for my interview.

W: Oh, yes. I know all about that job. I did it two years ago.

M: Really? Did you like it?

W: I think it was the best I've had at school. It paid eight dollars an hour, which was three dollars an hour more than I got working at the school post office the year before.

M: That is a good salary. What did you do?

W: I was in charge of grading all the problem sets that were assigned as homework. I never had trouble doing it, and of course, Prof. Gilmore was always available to help me if I had any questions.

M: I think I'd enjoy doing that sort of work. It would be very good experience for anyone thinking about becoming a teacher.

W: Absolutely. You also learn how to use the computer data base, because the records are kept on it. And building up your computer skills is a good preparation for lots of jobs.

M: The job sounds great, but I'm a little worded about how much time it might take.

听力原文: Six consecutive days of spring rain had created a raging river running by Nancy
Brown's farm. As She tried to herd her cows to higher ground, she slipped and hit her head on a fallen tree think. The fall knocked her out for a moment or two. When she came to, (32) Lizzie, one of her oldest and favorite cows, was licking her face. The water was rising. Nancy got up and began walking slowly with Lizzie. The water was now waist high. It was quite hard to walk in the water. Nancy's pace got slower and slower. Finally, all she could do was to throw her arm around Lizzie's neck and try to hang on. About twenty minutes later, Lizzie managed to successfully pull herself and Nancy out of the raging water and onto a bit of high land, a small island now in the middle of acres of white water.

Even though it was about noon, the sky was so dark and the rain and lightning so bad that it took rescuers another two hours to discover Nancy. A helicopter lowered a paramedic, who attached Nancy to a life-support hoist. (33) They raised her into the helicopter and took her to the school gym, where the Red Cross had set up an emergency shelter.

When the flood finally subsided two days later, Nancy immediately went back to the "island". (34) To her great grief, Lizzie was gone. She was one of nineteen cows that Nancy lost. "I owe my life to her," said Nancy sobbingly.

(33)

A.She was a farmer.

B.She was a cow.

C.She was a rescuer.

D.She was a horse.

听力原文: If you feel overwhelmed by your college experience, you are not alone--many of today' s college students are suffering from a form. of shock. Going to college has always had its ups and downs, but today the "downs" of the college experience are more numerous and difficult. The schools are responding to the problem with increased support service.

Lisa is a good example of a student in shock. She is a lovely, intelligent girl of twenty and is in her third year at a university. Having been a straight A student in high school and a member of the basketball team there, she remembers her high school days with fondness. Lisa was popular then and had a boyfriend for the last two years of school.

Now, only three years later, Lisa is miserable. She has changed her major four times already and is forced to hold two part-time jobs in order to pay her tuition. She can' t sleep well or eat properly. She also believes that she has no close friends. Sometimes she bursts into crying for no apparent reason. On more than one occasion, she has considered taking her own life.

What is happening to Lisa happens to millions of college students each year. As a result, roughly one-fourth of the students suffer from depression. Some of them are so depressed that they have to go to the doctor. Meanwhile, suicide rate among college students is higher now than at any other time in history. It is fifty percent higher than among nonstudents of the same age. It is estimated that each year more than five hundred college students take their own lives.

College health officials believe that these reported problems represent only the tip of the iceberg. They fear that most students, like Lisa, suffer in silence.

(33)

A.Going to college in the past was more stressful than it is today.

B.Going to college in the past was less stressful than it is today.

C.Going to college in the past was as stressful as it is today.

D.Going to college was not stressful in the past, neither is it today.

听力原文: Amy Johnson was a very ambitious and energetic person. She didn't have much in common with other girls in her school, however. She played football better than most boys, and unfortunately she made a rather bad impression on many of her teachers. Amy just didn't act the way they thought a girl should. She studied at a university and later took a job as a typist. Although she was enthusiastic and did her best, she made a lot of mistakes and was poorly paid. She didn't want to be a typist anyway -- she dreamed of becoming a pilot!

Amy moved to London, borrowed some money, and learned to fly. Nobody, however, wanted to hire a female pilot. She decided to fly alone to Australia to prove that she could fly as well as any man. Her parents lent her money to buy an airplane.

But she landed in India six days later. She had broken the record to India by two days. Over Burma, she ran into a monsoon, and was able to save herself only by landing on a football field. She finally reached Australia. The plane propeller had been broken during her last landing, and she had to crash-land. But Amy had proved that she could fly -- and that a woman could do almost anything she really put her mind to.

(33)

A.Because she played football better than most boys.

B.Because she made a lot of mistakes though she did-her best.

C.Because she performed poorly in her studies.

D.Because she didn't act the way the teachers thought a girl should.
