听力原文:W: What do you do for a living, Frank?

M: I am an aerospace engineer. I have been working for NASA for over fifteen years.

W: Wow. that sounds fascinating. What projects have you been involved in?

M: Well until recently I was heavily involved in the Cassini mission. I don't know if you're familiar with it or not. It's one of NASA's most expensive and ambitious projects. We are sending a probe to explore Saturn and its moons.

W: That sounds really interesting. Are you in any way involved in the construction of the international space station?

M: Actually, that's what I'm working on now. I'm currently a technical liaison between NASA and several European space agencies. It's an interesting job. but it can be a bit too much at times. The international space station is probably the largest international venture ever attempted, and I am constantly dealing with technical difficulties. budget problems, and delays. It's not easy coordinating the efforts of all those countries. I have been to Europe three times in the last month, and I have to go to Kazakhstan next week.

W: And I understand there's some controversy surrounding the space station. Don't some people worry. that NASA is spending too much money on the project?.

M: Many experts have complained that the project has grown out of control and become far too expensive. But I look at it as more than a space station: I believe it's helping to foster international scientific cooperation. It's nice to see the scientists of the world working together to create a stepping-stone to the future.

(20)

A.It plans to send a probe to explore the moon.

B.It's NASA's most expensive project so far.

C.It's an ambitious project.

听力原文:M: You like living in the city, don't you?

W: Oh, I love it. It's so, convenient. I can take the bus to work, or the subway, or the taxi. And there is so much to do.

M: I know what you mean. I'd like to live in the city, but to live in the suburbs is better for children.

W: Well, there are a lot of good things about suburban living. But, as a working woman, I think a city has all the conveniences…including the best food and fastest news.

M: But there are more trees, grass and fresh air in the suburbs.

W: Yeah, but living in a city, it's convenient to go everywhere. There are lots of movie houses, theaters and so on. You can take them to the suburbs on the weekends.

M: Yeah, children are the right age. There are lots of things for them here.

W: You are right. They are at the library in Brooklyn. And they come back home for lunch, then go uptown to the Museum of Natural History. There is so much for young people, to see and do.

M: Not just for young people. What about me? I've never been to the Museum of Natural History.

W: Neither have I. When I was a child, I used to go to the Museum of Art.

M: I've been there several times. Twice with children.

W: Well, I have an idea. Next weekend, we go to the Museum of Natural History.

M: Ok, that's really a very nice idea.

听力原文:W: Hello, Mr. Wilson. My name's Jane Smith and I'm the personnel manager.

M: Hello. How do you do?

W: Now, this is just a short preliminary interview. I'd like to talk about your present job and what you've done up till now.

M: Yes, of course.

W: Well, could you tell me how long you've had your present position in Evening News. It is Evening News, isn't it?

M: Yes, that's right. Um, I'm not sure. Let me see. I left university in 2003...is that right? Yes, 2003. Then I was unemployed for about two months, and then I traveled, round Britain for a few weeks, so it must be more than three years now in fact.

W: Um...yes. And have you any particular reason for wanting to change jobs? I mean, why do you want to move?

M: Well, I actually like my present job and still find it interesting. The salary's OK so it's nothing to do with money. Though you can always do with more. I suppose the thing is that I'm really very ambitious and keen to get promoted, so that's the real reason.

W: You say you like your job. Can you tell me what aspect you like most?

M: That's difficult. There are so many things. The colleagues are quite nice to go along with so there's a good cooperative atmosphere. And compared to other presses the working conditions are great. I mean, the office itself is good.

W: Urn, yes. We are looking for someone who isn't a clock-watcher and who isn't too concerned about working fairly long hours.

M: Oh, I don't mind that. I'm used to it. I often work irregular hours. I was very often made to work at weekends.

W: Good. Thank you.

B.He is a travel agent.

C.He works in a university.
