ee what people used to enjoy reading. Did you see this old book of children's stories?

M: Some of these books aren't so old though. See? This Mystery was published only six years ago: It cost 75 cents. You can't beat that.

W: Hey, look at this!

M: What! Are you getting interested in 19th century poetry all of a sudden?

W: No. Look here. Someone gave this book as a present and wrote a note on the inside of the front cover. It's dated 1893. Maybe it's worth something.

M: Everything on that shelf is worth 50 cents.

W: But if this is the signature of someone who is well known, it might bring a lot more. I hear Shakespeare's signature is worth about a million dollars.

M: Oh? I can hardly read what that one says. Who wrote it?

W: The name looks like "Harold Dobson." Maybe "Dobbins"? Wasn't he a politician or something? I'm going to buy this book and see if I can find a name like that in the library.

M: Good luck. Your poetry book may make you rich, but I'll bet my 75-cent Mystery is a good buy.

B.In a school.

C.In a bookstore.

D.In a publishers' office.

听力原文: One of the greatest mysteries of nature is the instinct to migrate. Every year, millions of creatures feel the need to migrate and most people have seen the arrival or departure of migrating flocks of birds. In England, for example, we always know when Autumn is coming, because flocks of swallows sit on the telegraph wires. Migration is not only seen in birds but also in reptiles, for example, turtles, frogs and toads. Insects, such as locusts and butterflies; fish, such as eel, salmon and tunas and mammals, such as reindeer, seals, lemmings, whales and bats. Many of these creatures can find their way over long distances. And how they do it is a mystery and a wonder to everyone, especially for those of us who have difficulty even reading a map covering 100 miles. There are several suggestions about how they navigate. Firstly, it is suggested, they navigate by using stars and planets for guidance. Secondly, some people think that these migrating mammals find their way by following the pole of the earth's magnetic field. Thirdly some people think that migrating birds, insects and animals follow a certain smell or scent. Fourthly, another group of people believe that animals migrate by recognizing geographical features. Fifthly, some people think that animals migrate by following changes in temperature. And finally, there are people who suppose they migrate by following sound.

(30)

A.The weather gets hotter.

B.Telegraph wires stand still.

C.Swallows sit on telegraph wires.

D.People find the mystery of migration

听力原文:W: Let's do something! Why don't we go out for dinner or go dancing.

M: I'm watching TV.

W: You're always watching TV. Stop being such a couch potato! Get up and let's do something.

M: I am doing something. I’ m watching TV.

W: You're always watching some stupid sitcom. It's a waste of time, and a waste of brain power.

M: Sometimes it's nice just to kick back, relax and laugh a little. There is nothing wrong with a little comedy in one's life. In fact, that's why I'm here.

W: Ha, ha! Very funny!

M: Besides, I am watching something serious.

W: What? I bet it's some ridiculous drama with perfect looking people complaining about the tribulations of daily life.

M: Nope, wrong again.

W: Then it must be a prime-time news program describing how some woman went crazy and killed her husband.

M: No, I watched that last night. You had better guess quickly--the commercials are almost over.

W: Is it a murder mystery? Or some science fiction show like Star Trek?

M: No.

W: A game show where they test your knowledge of useless trivia?

M: No, it's a documentary on dolphins in the Caribbean.

W: Hey, that sounds interesting!

M: Why don't we make some popcorn, and then watch the rest of it together.

(20)

A.Because it's a way of relaxing himself.

B.Because he has nothing else to do.

C.Because sitcom is very funny.

D.Because watching TV is his favorite activity.

听力原文:W: What did you think of the movie? Did you like it?

M: Net molly, it was a little too artsy for me. It seemed like the director was trying so hard to impress us with strange close-ups and avant-garde dialogues that he forgot to include a story. I thought it was really boring.

W: I thought the movie was really thought-provoking, I love it when a movie makes you think. It's a nice change from the superficial dialogue and two-dimensional characters you usually see in films these days.

M: I don't really care for alternative films. They are so dark and depressing. The characters are always so intense. Why does a movie have to be sad to be deep?

W: Yeah, I know what you mean, but mainstream cinema is nothing but gun fights and exploding cars. I get so sick of movies like that. I prefer movies with substance.

M: But sometimes you don't want to think; sometimes you just want a light movie. Like that comedy movie with Billy Crystal—that was so hilarious. I laughed so hard that I cried.

W: Movies have to be more than entertaining to me.

M: Did you see that new mystery movie that came out last month? That was so suspenseful. 1 was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

W: I loved that movie. The plot was great, and the acting was incredible. I wouldn't be surprised if it were nominated for an Academy Award.

M: Well. at least we agree on something. I guess we'll have to stick to mysteries in the future.

(23)

A.The close-ups are perfect.

B.The dialogues are easy to understand.

C.It's not boring at all.

D.It doesn't tell any story.
